Allison Beers
Owner and FounderAllison started Events North in 2008 after working for two of the largest meeting and event agencies in the world.
In 2016, Connect Magazine, a National Meeting Planning publication, named Beers to the top 40 under 40 leaders in the industry. In 2014, Michigan Meetings + Events Magazine inducted Allison into the Hall of Fame for Best Event Planner. Since 2010 Events North was named the Readers’ Choice Best of Award Winner from Michigan Meetings + Events Magazine for Best Meeting Planner.
From 2008 until 2019, the Traverse City Business News named Beers one of the 40 Most Influential Business People under 40. In 2017 the Traverse City Business News named Beers one of the 50 Leading Women in Business.
Since 2013, Beers has served as a Trustee of Rotary Charities. With an endowment of approximately $50 million dollars, the non-profit has donated over $70 million dollars to a five county region in the last 40 years. Rotary Charities helps changemakers work better together to address the Northern Michigan region’s complex problems and create community assets for all. She is also the Past President of The Rotary Club of Traverse City.
In July of 2021, Allison joined the Board of Directors for the Small Business Association of Michigan, SBAM. SBAM has over 30,000+ members comprised of business owners and is the only statewide and state-based association that focuses solely on severing the needs of Michigan’s small business community. It is the largest of its kind in the country.
With her passion for civic involvement, Allison chairs a precinct in the City of Traverse City for elections.
In 2017, she was a founding member and Co-President for Impact 100 Traverse City, a transformational granting organization.
Beers served as the President of the Board of Directors of the National Cherry Festival Foundation for three years and has also served on the boards of The Traverse City Downtown Development Authority, The Traverse City Area Chamber of Commerce, The Boom Boom Club, The Downtown Traverse City Association (DTCA) and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northwestern Michigan.
She is a graduate of Albion College with a double BA in English and Speech Communications. She also has a certification in event management from the George Washington University School of Business. After college, Allison moved to Philadelphia to advance her event management career.
While in Philadelphia, she guest lectured for a class at Temple University in event management and served as a board member of the Philadelphia chapter of the International Special Event Society (now ILEA) for three years.
Since Beers and her husband Adam, a Traverse City native, moved to Northern Michigan from Philadelphia in 2005, she has been involved in a variety of local activities. She has two really cool children, Anna and Jake that go to all volunteer outings with her!
Beers is a founding member of the Traverse City Area Chamber of Commerce Young Professionals and managed the program for seven years. She was the 2015 Chair of the program.
In 2013, the Michigan Society of Association Executives named Beers as a Rising Leader in the association and hospitality-related industries. Beers was one of the first to receive this inaugural award from MSAE.
In 2010, Beers was named the Top 10 in 10 from Albion College. Top 10 in 10 awards were created to recognize noteworthy and distinctive achievements made by ten alumni who have graduated within the past ten years.
Allison is also a freelance writer for Michigan Meetings + Events Magazine and served on their editorial advisory board.
Allison loves to share her expertise in the industry. Beers has presented at many statewide conferences and to many other groups on a variety of topics in the event management field. She also presents a business etiquette course and jokes that in her spare time she will eventually finish the book she started on the same topic.
